Never Have I Ever, Then I Did and Failed

“Never say never, because limits, like fears, are often just an illusion.” – Michael Jordan

Let’s not play the “Never Have I Ever” game because when you’re really committed, you’ll do things that you never thought you’d do (don’t let your mind go to the gutter that’s not where we’re headed).  What I’m talking about could include: writing letters to friends and family telling them about your business, cold calling, sending DMs, making short informative videos, writing blogs, learning about SEOs, creating excel sheets to track your KPI’s (learning what KPIs are) and the list will go on and on. You will be working on things that you didn’t know existed and you won’t even realize how much you’ve learned until you’re talking to someone about it like an expert, shocking yourself with the knowledge your dropping down. Being an entrepreneur means learning on an exponential level, there’s no end to it.

While all that learning is going on you will also be hitting obstacles, stumbling even when you’re not walking, just constantly feeling like you’re sucking at everything ALL THE TIME.  Sure, there will be moments of ease and savor those moments because most of what you’ll be doing is growing.  Think about it, you’re trying to really create something and you want your business to grow…and well the only way for that to happen is for you to grow, which is painful that’s why they’re called growing pains.

Being in a state of constant learning means making oodles of mistakes, mishaps and misfires, on a DAILY basis, and you’ll need to cultivate the ability to see things from multiple perspectives which takes a whole other level of self-awareness.  Your capacity to step back and look at things from a different viewpoint and say without emotion (THIS IS KEY get detached), “that didn’t work, what can I learn and what adjustments can I make so my next attempt hits the mark”, is what will make every failure a victory.

This is part of the Chronicles of a Bootstrap Solopreneur Series.

In this series, I share the knowledge, insight and concepts I’ve learned to be beneficial during my time spent thus far as a solopreneur.  Many of these methods, mindsets and tactics can be applied to areas beyond the business arena. Starting your own business is basically an exercise of continuous personal growth through: failure, triumph, creation, organization, chaos, perseverance, effort, dedication, vulnerability, self-evaluation and hope…like on the daily.  All of these concepts have been Liz tested and approved to be effective in keeping you on course, focusing on what’s important, and succeeding in your venture however you may define success.
